What are Reference Values?

Dietary Reference Values (DRVs) or Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) are the scientific values for nutrient intake for healthy people. These values vary by age and gender.

DGE (Germany)

The German Nutrition Society (DGE) publishes reference values for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region). These are based on the latest scientific evidence.

USDA (USA)

The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) developed by the National Academies and used by the USDA are the standard in North America. They may differ slightly from European values.
